Production management and the role and challenges of a production manager

Production manager

     Take control
   Organisation
   Scheduling
   Communication / meeting’s
   Responsibility

A production manager is usually involved with the planning and control of a processes or product. They make sure that the final product is completed to the highest level and making sure everything goes as planned. This can include things like fining the appropriate clients to help with the project and become part of the team such as cameramen or film crews or researches to help with the process. They would also be responsible for setting dates for parts of the project to be completed and other problems or responsibilities such as:

   Sickness
   Unhappy client
   Weather conditions on shooting days
   Technical issues

Sticking to rules and regulations

Corporate and promotional programme production

Corporate and promotional production

    Business
   Product
   individual
   service
   Training / induction
   Recruitment

Corporate and promotional programme productions are made to generate a profit. It is usually used to promote a business, individual or service trying to make money from the advert or advertising method. E.g. a shops advert is trying to get you to go and shop at that particular shop so they can make profit from your purchases where as a charity advert is raising awareness and isn’t making a profit from their advertising. Services are also listed under this category because they also make a profit from their advertising. Services are very similar to businesses and are trying to sell their service to the pubic e.g. Hairdresser, swimming pools etc.

Social action and community media production

Social action and community media production

   Charity
   Protest/issue
    Building a social network
   Awareness

Social action and community media production don’t make a profit unlike corporate and promotional production, they aim to raise awareness or a charity or problem such as dogs trust or if a super marker where to be built in a village but was unwanted but the residents. You could say some subjects like training videos are part of both groups as they are raising awareness to the staff about how to behave however they do also make a profit from the video so it wouldn’t be completely social action and community media.
